Expectations
All students must wear clothing that fits. We will not sell clothing that is too small or too large. Student safety is our main concern.

Shirts must be unaltered and in good repair.  (no holes, no writing and/or colored ink)

Undershirts must be tucked in or they will be confiscated and not returned without a parent conference. All confiscated items will be donated to charity after the last day of school.

Hooded Sweatshirt

SJH Logo Only, this will be the only hoodie allowed at SJH

Sweatshirts  must be unaltered and in good repair

  • SJH approved Polos and Hooded Sweatshirts will be available for purchase at the school during office hours (6:30 am - 2:00 pm) beginning August 17, 2007. 
  • Evening sales dates: August 15, 16, 27 & 28 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm

Pants/Jeans Solid Black or Tan

Must be in good repair – no holes, no writing.

No stripes – even on shorts and leggings.  Must be a solid color.

No lycra or nylon stretch pants, no sweats or warm ups, no decorations, no straps hanging down, must be worn on the hips – NO SAGGING

Black jeans which have faded to gray and/or gray pants/jeans are not acceptable

Skirts and Skorts

Solid Black or Tan

Knee length or longer, slits in skirts must not be overly revealing. Must be in good repair – no holes, no writing. No stripes. Must be a solid color.

Shorts

Solid Black or Tan

Mid-thigh or longer, finger tip length. Must be in good repair – no holes, no writing. No stripes. Must be a solid color.

Shoes, Sandals and Stockings

Footwear must be designed for public use at all times, must have hard soles, no bedroom slippers.  Stockings or nylons must not have holes or writing no stripes or other patterns; fishnet stockings are not acceptable.

Jewelry

No excessive jewelry on necks, arms, or fingers; no spikes or chains. Body piercings must be quick release, no hoops.  Anything which distracts from the learning environment will be confiscated.

Safety Pins

Not to be worn as adornment on clothing or as jewelry

Belts

Makeup

No face painting, no gothic makeup, no writing on face or body

Sunglasses, hats or other headgear

No bandanas – they will be confiscated and not returned

Coats, Jackets, Backpacks and Backpack Purses

Yellow Rain Slicker

Other jackets/coats and backpacks cannot be brought into classrooms, may be brought or worn to school then put in the student’s locker once they arrive.

* If it can be worn as a backpack and/or if it is large enough to carry a binder, it must be left in your locker.

Friday Pride Day
Official SJH t-shirts, sweatshirts or hoodies (sports, clubs, choir, etc.) may be worn on Fridays. No P.E. shirts. Athletic teams and clubs may wear their uniforms on game day ONLY if approved by the coach – no sweats are allowed.

Students who are not in PrideWear take up valuable learning time and cause a disruption to the learning environment.  Disruptions to teaching and learning at Spanaway Junior High are strictly prohibited and students will be disciplined for not adhering to school dress standards.
