Mr. Trepus - Washington History
DIRECTIONS: You are to plan a 3 day trip in the State of Washington. You must travel to 3 places in the state starting and ending in Tacoma. At least one place must be in Eastern Washington. Locate and label each stop on the map. Print out an expense sheet and list all place names and costs (notebook paper will work fine as well). List only one item per line. Use the mileage chart to calculate your travel distances between cities. You must pay 25 cents per mile. At the bottom of your list, you must add all mileage costs and travel expenses together. Put this figure in the box at the bottom of the map. IF YOU HAVE EXTRA COMPUTER TIME, YOU MAY GO TO MORE THAN 3 PLACES. Use the grade sheet as a check list to help you get a high grade.
A. A place to stay. Give the name
and the room cost for one adult.
B. 3 places to visit such as a museum,
park, amusement center, zoo or theater. Give the name of each place
and the admission price for one adult.
C. 2 places to eat. List the name of
the restaurant. If the restaurant does not list menu items, assume
each meal costs $15.
D. Give a brief history of how the
town got started. (3 to 5 sentences)
E. Give the name and address of the
hospital in town in case you get sick.
F. Find the address of the police
department in case you need help.
G. Give the name and address of a local
college or university.
H. Give the name and address of a local
clothing store.
LABEL THE MAP - Locate and label each city or town you visit. Starting with Tacoma, draw an arrow connecting Tacoma to your first stop. On the arrow write the miles you traveled and your mileage cost. Do the same for the next 2 towns. Finally, connect the 3rd town with an arrow back to Tacoma and write in the miles and the mileage cost. Put the TOTAL MILES traveled in the box at the bottom of the map.
PRINT THE MAP OF WASHINGTON: Click on the Map and print the page by going to FILE and PRINT. You can scale the map up or down to fill up a piece of paper on most printers using page set up. Your printer manual or help files will give more information.
